So it’s been a week since my last post and I have another make to share with you. I think I’ve become addicted to making amigurumi!
They crochet up so quickly, it takes me about 3 days from start to finish.
So this one is another design from the Pica Pau book I mentioned previously. All the characters complement each other in their looks, I suppose it helps that I have crocheted both of them in the same Drops Love You cotton.

I had a couple of issues with crocheting this design. I don’t know about you but when I make something I do refer to the photos and one of the photos of the puffin in this book was slightly different from the pattern. There was an extra pattern repeat row of the scarf stitches. The wings in the photo also looked like they had extra rows than what was in the pattern too.
I also had a bit of trouble crocheting the tail area and had to rip back to get it to work, perhaps a diagram of what direction to stitch in would have been helpful.
Despite these little set backs I do really like the puffin and am really pleased with how she looks. She can stand on her legs as they are packed with stuffing however she does need to lean up against something to stop her toppling over.

If I could change anything I would have a different colour for the scarf instead of the pink as there’s not a great deal of contrast with the white, however I wanted to there to be a connection to the pink on the beak.
I’ve included photos of the back view of the puffin to show what it’s like for anyone else making it. It’s not pretty where the rounds spiral but that’s just the way it is, a more inexperienced crocheter might think they’ve gone wrong. I suppose I could research how to do a jogless spiral.

The question that follows… which one should I crochet next 😉.
I have uploaded a video to YouTube were I talk about these amigurumi creations and offer some advice if you would like to make them too. The video can be found here. My channel is called Jean the Creative Pixie so if you have some time I would really appreciate it if you would click 👍🏼 or on the subscribe button on the video.
It’s been a while since I shared a video but I just decided to do it yesterday with my eldest daughter in the background offering advice. I think it went ok so I hope to share more on a regular basis, the same with my blog here.
