Silent night socks

Silent night socks

My past couple of knits have been garments were I had to follow a pattern/use new techniques so I wanted to get back to basics and knit something simpler.

I chose a pair of socks for my eldest daughter, a plain vanilla sock with a heel flap and gusset as she has a high instep (an afterthought heel is a bit to tight on her foot).

One of her favourite films is Coraline and I showed her a yarn (by West Yorkshire Spinners in the Silent Night colourway) which I thought was similar to Coraline’s hair.

The sparkle is very festive, isn’t it.

The socks didn’t take me long to knit though I did feel the difference working in 4-ply on mini circs when my last project was knit in Aran weight.

Overall it took me 10 days to complete the socks at a relaxed pace, though the last half sock was knit in an evening after binge watching the end of a box set.

My youngest daughter had fun with the sock blockers and the Christmas decorations.

I’m told they’re cosy and that she’s saving them to wear on Christmas Day.

Not to show favouritism I’ve also knit a little something for my youngest daughter so I’ll share that in a future post.

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Christmas.
