I don’t know about you but I’ve taken it upon myself to make some Christmas presents for some family members this year.
A month ago I bought some lovely Studio Donegal Soft Donegal thinking that they would make some lovely hats or mittens.

The red (shade no:2B 5522) is very much my mother’s colour so I thought I’d knit her a hat. I had look on Ravelry and after using the search function I found a gorgeous pattern for a hat called the Løvsprettlue hat (in Norwegian) or Leafing hat in English.
I cast on the larger size last Saturday after I bought the appropriate sized needles, seems a lot of people are knitting hats at the moment as Chiaogoo 16″ circulars were hard to find.
The hat was knit from the bottom up and the ribbing seemed to take the longest time.

As I’m not too experienced at knitting from a chart I did make a couple of mistakes and soon learnt that ‘tinking’ tweed wool is not the easiest.
Despite this, it was a very quick knit and I finished it 5 evenings later (I don’t knit everyday).

Can you see the leaf design? It’s a gorgeous little hat and secretly I’d like to keep it for myself but the yarn was chosen with my Mum in mind.

Hopefully she’ll like it and perhaps I’ll knit another one for myself once I’ve got my Christmas knitting finished.
Anyone else knitting Christmas gifts or have a nice hat pattern they’d recommend?
Jean x
