Hurrah, it’s December! I don’t know about you but I just love Christmas. The cold crisp days and evenings spent in front of the open fire are what memories are made of.
Here’s a recap of my week.
Family time: it’s tradition in my family to put up the Christmas decorations the 1st Saturday in December. There were the usual arguments and at one point we couldn’t find the lights. I decided to just have baubles on the tree when I remembered that the lights were in my car boot (inside the bag of decorations I planned to take to work). I ended up wrapping the lights on the ready dressed tree 😕. The gold lights just look so inviting don’t they.

My cats certainly love hiding under it.
Watching: we decided to watch The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe film, it’s one of my favourite stories. Though I think the BBC version is far superior to the film, the girls still enjoyed it. I sat on the sofa knitting socks whilst my Tabby snuggled up to me 💓.

On Tuesday night my eldest daughter and I watched Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas.

It’s a fabulous TV show on Channel 4 featuring different crafts used to make Christmas decorations and presents. Miss P really enjoyed it and I’ve set the TIVO box to record any future episodes. Some of the crafts featured were a bit time consuming and expensive, I mean who has a kiln (or knows anyone with a kiln) to fire their own pottery or infinite supply of blades to cut out brass angels. It’s nice to watch though.
Crafting: I’m still knitting these socks (see the above photo). I’ve finished the gusset decreases and am now onto the foot.
This week I ordered myself some festive sock yarn from Vicki Brown Designs on etsy. It’s called Peppermint Bark and it’s 75:25% superwash merino/nylon. I have bought from Vicki before and used her Truffula Trees yarn for a pair of socks I knit for myself earlier in the year. Her yarn is so colourful and silky and it withstands being put through a 30’C machine wash.👍

She also sent me a little green bell progress keeper which is adorable.
I probably won’t have time to knit some Christmas socks out of it this year but you never know, I might get something cast on during the Christmas holidays 😜.
I have a jam packed weekend coming up so I’ll have lots to chat about next week.
Take care.
